American Country Show wins PPI Radio Award



The American Country Show beat off stiff competition on Friday night in Galway winning Gold in the 'Specialist Music Programme' category. 

The PPIs are considered radio's Oscars & this gong is the first for Kfm Radio. Lyric Fm won Silver for 'Great Moments in Classical Music' while 'Songs In The Key Of Life' on Txfm took the Bronze award.

There were 780 entries this year - a 25% increase on last years' entries. They were whittled down by 83 judges from the radio industry in Ireland & the UK. 

Speaking about the award for Specialist Music Programme they said The American Country Show took Gold because of 'the presenter who made it accessible to the listener'.

On winning Stephen said he 'didn't expect to win but was delighted and very grateful to receive the recognition from his peers'


It's was the 15th anniversary of the awards which were held this year at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Galway. Over 700 people attended the gala ball which was hosted by comedian Barry Murphy.

The American Country Show has been running on Kfm since 2009 and is broadcast on Saturday evenings from 8 to 10 pm. Stephen has worked with Kfm since its inception in 2004, presenting the popular breakfast show 'The Stephen Keogh Breakfast Show
